FeSi Project, Angola
A milled ferrosilicon plant serving Angola's diamond mining industry.
Status: project under development — feasibility study completed; front-end engineering and ESIA phase in preparation.
- Sector
- metallurgy — ferroalloys
- Location
- Cambambe, Cuanza Norte province, Angola
- Product
- DMS-grade milled ferrosilicon (150D and 270D grades)
- Capacity
- 8,000 t/year of finished DMS FeSi (concept-stage estimate)
- AxenCor role
- strategy, techno-economic feasibility, financial structuring, preparation of the next phase
- Decision supported
- go / no-go and funding of the engineering phase
The market
Fact: diamond mines use dense medium separation (DMS) to concentrate heavy minerals. The process continuously consumes milled ferrosilicon, which forms the dense medium.
AxenCor analysis: for mine operators, local supply reduces lead times, logistics exposure and the inventory needed to cover imports. The project aims to meet that need from a plant located in Angola.
The project owner needed to establish whether a local plant was technically feasible, economically viable and ready for a financing discussion — and, if so, to prepare funding for the next stage.
The project
The planned facility covers raw material reception and storage, crushing, milling and classification, dust collection, finished product storage and packing, plus utilities and support buildings.
Production capacity: 8,000 t/year of finished DMS FeSi (concept-stage estimate), with a phased ramp-up.

AxenCor's role
- Opportunity qualification and market analysis
- Techno-economic feasibility study: process, capacity, equipment, plot plan, CAPEX / OPEX, risks
- Financial model, tranche-based financing plan and bank / investor materials (PT, EN)
- Preparation of the engineering and ESIA phase
AxenCor has not built, financed or operated the project: it is under development.
